Why I’m No Longer Impressed By Scandal

Scandal has become more and more disappointing to me as this season progresses. What started as a high paced political drama about a political fixer, who actually did her job, has now turned into a melodramatic soap opera with plenty of cliff hangers that don’t have much shock value.

For the last few episodes I was able to guess what would happen (if you’re not caught up there are spoilers ahead!).

When the California governor turned out to be in love with Mellie? So obvious.

Huck and Abby being the ones to “kidnap” David rather than it being Cyrus’ hit man? Again, not really a nail biter.

It’s possible that because of my obsession with television I’ve just become great at guessing what will happen next but honestly I’m sick of hearing people continuously talk about how great Scandal is.

Is it entertaining? Sure. But it’s not greatly scripted, edited, or acted out.

For starters, the show began with Olivia Pope, being an independent force as a political fixer who made her own choices. Now Olivia doesn’t fix anything and instead the show only focuses on her “love triangle” with Fitz and Jake. It’s a little bit of stretch to call it a love triangle, however, since really it’s clear that the only thing standing in between Fitz and Olivia being together is his marriage and presidency. Otherwise they’d be in Vermont right now.

Jake is only there to keep Olivia company and keep her warm at night since she can’t be with the one she really wants. In summary, he’s her security blanket.

The storyline of this show no longer focuses on the dirty inner workings of politics and the blood thirsty, backstabbing inner workings that happen within the American government. Instead those things only come second to all the love affairs and relationships on the show.

Every episode seems to be more and more about who’s sleeping with who and less and less about who’s actually running the government.

Lastly, what was really the last straw for me was tonight’s episode in which we were promised a jaw dropping ending in the last 30 seconds. Many fans seem to be satisfied with the “shocking” ending of this episode but I am not.

First of all, the ending was a classic cliff hanger that happens in many shows. There’s a gun shot, screen goes black, and everyone’s left wondering who got shot? It’s a tired ploy to get viewers to Tweet about the show and guess who died, not a stroke of cinematic genius.

Moreover, it seems obvious to me that James is the one that got shot. For one thing, it would provide the writers with another story line because Cyrus will be furious if that is the case. Also, James’ death get’s way more players involved than David’s death. Of course Olivia’s team will care if David is dead but the whole White House will care if James is dead. Plus, then there’s the question of who’ll raise his daughter since Cyrus is really not fit to be a stay at home father and didn’t really want the baby in the first place.

I admit I could be wrong but I’d put money on it being David because that would provide the writers with the best material but honestly who got shot isn’t relevant here. What is relevant is that so called surprising and jaw dropping ending was nothing I haven’t seen done before in other shows. I was expecting much more by the way the episode was being hyped up but again found myself disappointed.

Although I do believe Scandal is an entertaining show, which is why it gets so many views and why I keep watching it, it’s not the greatest thing since sliced bread. People talk about it so much because it’s exciting. There’s sex scenes, affairs, murder, and drama. However, just because a show has these things doesn’t mean it’s Emmy worthy. It just means the writers know how to catch an audience’s attention.

I know people will disagree with my opinion so have at it in the comments. I rest my case.

Switched at Birth 3X09 Recap

320.16x9

This week we were blessed with awkward moments, a couple fight, love triangle drama, and pent up aggression. All in all I think this week made up for the hot mess dance episode we were given last week.

Let’s start with Bay and Tank. Mary Beth is still not digging this relationship ever since the whole “dog fight” party thing. Though I completely understand why Mary Beth would be upset about that she shouldn’t take it out on Tank and his relationship with Bay. Tank is a good guy and she should at least give him a chance. I mean just look at how cute they are:

tumblr_n2afx9kKPO1tuw6pfo1_500

Even so, Mary Beth is totally not on board so when Bay and Tank come up with the “brilliant” idea to set Mary Beth up so she has to hang out with Tank, Mary Beth isn’t having it and storms out leading to her finally telling Bay the truth: Ty didn’t cheat.

48569325_omg_reaction_gif

Talk about a bombshell. Needless to say Bay didn’t take this very well leading her to run to her other ex, Emmett, asking for some much needed advice. After talking everything through Bay finally goes to talk to Tank who’s not at all happy that he came in third place (after her two ex’s) before she finally thought to even talk to him about it.

To be fair I can see why Tank would be angry. The chemistry between Bay and Emmett is still there (and probably always will be) so of course Tank is not going to be 100 percent comfortable with their friendship. Even so, Tank loses it, feeling like Bay will never forgive him for the “dog fight” thing and keep judging him for being in a frat.

Of course that’s when one of his frat brothers walks in talking about how he’s dating two girls and Bay says, “Maybe one day these girls are all going to get together and host their own dog fight.”

Oh dear!

giphy

Yeah not good. Bay and Tank try to cover up the slip but it’s too late. Now Tank might get blackballed by his frat and he’s pissed at Bay, not even sitting next to her in art class. Seems like this ship is going down fast. Will Bay be able to convince Tank to give them another try or will she not even try to mend the relationship at all?

Speaking of relationships, Daphne is still juggling her two guys and honestly she’s getting on my last nerve. Campbell and Jorge are friends and they’re both being really nice about it but how long is she going to string them both along? And she’s obviously enjoying the attention as she flirts with both guys.

Other than her “boy problems” Daphne is struggling with having Angelo around and him always talking about his baby.

tumblr_n2ah1fhIty1rmg21ho1_500

Daphne hates it that Angelo is so in love with his new daughter, Abby, because he left when she was a kid and although she claimed to have forgiven him for it, it obviously still bothers her and rightfully so. Having your father walk out on you is not something you get over easily. Especially when you’re certain it’s because you went deaf.

After going off on Angelo because she missed her opportunity to talk to a Doctor about summer opportunities Daphne breaks down with Mama Regina and releases all her pent up anger. I think this was a great step for Daphne and although I still can’t stand her I’m glad she finally said what was bothering her and hopefully this will lead to a better relationship between her and Angelo.

Toby, or the other Kennish as I like to call him since he’s constantly overshadowed by his sisters’ drama, is missing his wife who’s still doing service in some country which is awesome but kind of cut into their honeymoon time. Also, now she wants him to join her but Toby’s not going for it. He likes his job as the field hockey coach at Carlton and after tutoring Sharee I think he may even give teaching a try. Only time will tell.

The Kennish parents are now trying to work together to keep the marriage in tact and this leads John to come up with a brilliant idea to bring adventure to Katherine’s life: group sex!

Yay-kyli

Okay, I don’t think this was John’s original plan but he did invite his friends over with the idea to get wild. It was his friends idea to have the group sex. Although at first it seems that Katherine and John are going to go for it they both decide it’s not for them.

This is when John’s friend let’s it slip that they used to do “triple plays” back in the day leaving Katherine to wonder what exactly does that mean? But not in an accusatory way. Instead she wants knowledge for her book and John begrudgingly obeys. Telling her everything she wants to know, this sharing session actually brings this closer. You go Kennishs!

Thumbsup-alec

Sadly, this season (or first half of the season? I really never understand the ABC Family schedule) is coming to an end. Even so, things seem to be picking up and I’m all too excited to see what happens next. Below is the promo for the next episode. Enjoy!

10 Successful People Who Were English Majors

As an English major I am often asked either, “What are you going to do with that,” or, “So you want to be a teacher?” Many people either assume that if you’re studying English you plan to teach or they think you’re crazy, which is fair, considering if you look at the news lately English majors are not the most successful people and are usually ranked as the least.

Even so, I don’t appreciate when people try to make me doubt myself or my education choices. I want to be an English major and I believe in myself enough to trust that I will be able to do something profitable with what I learn. Plus, truthfully many people don’t end up doing what they thought they would be doing in college so relax.

That being said, there are bunch of people who have been successful after they studied English as an undergrad. Here’s 10, just to name a few.

1. Conan O’Brien

conan-o-brien

Many people don’t know this but before Conan O’Brien went into the show biz he attended Harvard University where he was a double major in history and English. And look at him now.

2. Barbara Walters

walters__130328170730

This boss lady who now co-hosts The View got her Bachelor of Arts in English from Sarah Lawrence College. Clearly English majors are destined to be talk show hosts. Just saying.

3. Steven Spielberg

???????????????????????????

Before he became famous (and an amazing) director Steven Spielberg got his English degree from California State University. English majors are good on screen and behind the scenes.

4. Diane Sawyer

MV5BMTMzNjIwNzU4Ml5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDY0MzY1Mw@@._V1_SY317_CR11,0,214,317_

This well-known news anchor learned how to master the English language at Wellesley College and now has been on multiple TV shows and continues to report the news in a flawless manner. Sawyer also puts her degree to good use as she writes for these shows as well.

5. Toni Morrison

ab-Toni-Morrison

Toni Morrison got her B.A. in English from Howard University and then went on to get her M.A. in English from Cornell University. It’s obvious she put both of these degrees to good use as she has written multiple best-selling and award winning novels.

6. Joan Cusack

Joan-Cusack-9542605-1-402

Joan Cusack got her B.A. in English from University of Wisconsin-Madison and has since become an Academy Award nominated actress. Obviously we’re also learning how to act in our English classes. Get on our level.

7. Jodie Foster

Jodie-Foster-9299556-1-402

I wasn’t kidding about those acting classes. Jodie Foster studied English at Yale University and has become a global star, acting in various memorable roles, most notably, Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs (a role she won an Oscar for by the way).

8. James Franco

james-franco-movies

Not only are English majors successful but they’re also very attractive. To be fair that’s probably something we learn outside of the classroom but it’s worth noting. James Franco received his B.A. in English from UCLA. Ohhhhh kill ’em!

9. Jon Hamm

jon-hamm

The good-looking English majors continue. Jon Hamm earned his B.A. in English from the University of Missouri and is now best known for his role as Donald Draper on the hit AMC show, Mad Men.

10. Martin Scorsee

img-martin-scorsese_14532014334

Last but certainly not least is Academy Award winning director, Martin Scorsee. Besides his Oscar win he has been Oscar-nominated multiple times and has been nominated this year as well. Scorsee is not only a director however, but also writes screenplays and acts. Go English majors!

I say this all to say that don’t let anyone scare you away from doing what you really want. You can study whatever you want to study and then later decide to do something else. It’s your life. Live it.

Switched at Birth 3X07 Recap

Source: ABCFamily

Last night, Switched at Birth had a lot of drama, dealing with some tough issues. As always there will be spoilers; you’ve been warned.

First, Daphne tries to help Sharee deal with her mom who is clearly struggling with her mental health. Daphne is finally able to convince Daphne to take her mother to see a psychologist at the clinic but they get her there under false pretenses, telling her that Sharee needs a flu shot.

Of course, Daphne and Sharee’s plan doesn’t go smoothly as the psychologist is late and Sharee’s mom quickly realizes what she’s really there for and storms out taking Sharee with her. It’s not until Daphne goes into the room to check on the doctor that she realizes that Sharee’s mom didn’t just leave but stabbed the doctor on the way out. This leaves Daphne in a difficult situation as she has to puncture a needle into the doctor’s chest to help him breath and survive.

03069-nervous

Working through her fear Daphne is able to save the day. Sharee’s mom is of course arrested and though Daphne would love to take Sharee in, Regina let’s her know it’s not possible. Even so, Sharee’s great-aunt is coming to stay with her as they work everything out. Hopefully everything works out for Sharee and her mom will now get the help she needs.

Last night, we finally got to see some characters that were missing from the show last week. Emmett and Travis have interviews for Galludet but Travis misses his, and tells Melody it was because he was helping Mary Beth with her car so she could get to work on time (lies!). Melody quickly learns the truth at dinner when Mary Beth admits she works on campus, only a few blocks from her dorm. This leads to a fight between Melody and Travis in which Travis tells Melody she’s not his mom. Ouch!

ouch

However, later, Mary Beth makes a good point to Melody, reminding her that Travis has never lived in a household with people who love him and understand him and he probably doesn’t feel ready to leave that nest just yet. This leads Melody to tell Travis that she will help him every step of the way while he applies to and goes to school and that even when he goes away he’ll still have a home to come back to. Awwww!

tumblr_luxe4yc8aa1r6aoq4o1_250

Also, Melody was getting her flirt on with her ex-husband’s audiologist, Gabe, who by the end of the episode she makes plans to go on a date with. You go Melody. Get it girl!

Thumbs_Up!

The Kennish’s are still having their issues. Though Kathryn kicked John out of the house, he somehow still believes that she’s “overreacting” and just needs to accept their apology and move on. Silly John!

bunk-the-wire

Meanwhile he’s still living in Toby’s apartment, driving Toby crazy with his messiness. Kathryn, on the other hand, is making head way on her book and doesn’t seem particularly inclined to let John back in the house anytime soon (and rightly so).

The fear of their parent’s impending divorce (maybe?) leads Bay and Toby to think of a plan to get them back together. Using trickery and lies they’re able to get Kathryn and John to an old restaurant they all used to go to as a family.

As could be expected this plan did not turn out the way the kids expected and instead leads to a fight between Kathryn and John in which Kathryn asks if they even have anything in common anymore. It’s then that she realizes she’s changed and she’s not happy with the life they’ve made for themselves anymore.

keanu2

Yeah that was a serious realization for Kathryn to make and I’m glad she finally said what she was feeling. While they’re dealing with their issues Bay’s hand starts acting up and they have to take her to the doctor where it’s revealed that there’s ripped tendons in her hand and she’s going to need surgery. The doctor doesn’t guarantee that she’ll be able to do art ever again. Poor Bay.

Glee1

Here’s to hoping it works out for her.

Lastly, Regina and Wes are starting their East River side project, and they have a town hall meeting where, Regina’s mom, Adriana, shows up and raises some serious questions about what this development is going to mean for East River side residents. Wes doesn’t approve of this and tells Regina to get her mother under control (say what?). Regina actually does it but Adriana accuses Wes of using her for “the color of her skin”.

After Regina thinks about this she asks Wes if this is true and he admits that it is beneficial that she’s a Latina but claims that’s not why he originally hired her. Regina says she’s going to quit but Wes makes it clear that it’ll cost her a lot to get of their contract, basically challenging her to do so. In conclusion, Wes is evil but I think we all knew that from the start.

Next week’s episode looks like it’ll have a lot less drama and instead a whole lot of dancing. Also, it looks as if this episode will have some Bank and Bemmett in it. Sounds like there’s another love triangle in the works (but let’s face it we all knew that was going to happen).

I’m excited to see exactly what this episode will entail and can’t wait to see everyone’s dancing skills (or lack thereof). Check out the preview below and let me know your thoughts.

Key moment:

(Warning: This post will contain spoilers. Read at your own risk)

This week on Switched at Birth Bank shippers got what they’ve been all waiting for: the kiss! Yes Bay finally recognized that she does in fact have feelings for Tank and we all know Tank had feelings for her, that was a given from the get go.

However, what was a surprise is Tank’s fraternity’s “dog fight”. Bay learns about the party from Mary Beth who was invited to attend by one of the guys in Tank’s frat, which leads Bay (in classic Bay fashion) to ask why she wasn’t invited.

The truth then comes out that the fraternity (Omega Psi) has planned this “dog fight” in which each guy is supposed to bring an ugly girl. This is of course ridiculous because Mary Beth is gorgeous, which Bay points out. This leads to a fight between Bay and Tank because although Tank disagrees with the frat’s idea he still wants to be a part of it. Bay then storms out, not knowing if she can date a guy in a frat like that.

Although Tank tells her not to, Bay of course tells Mary Beth which she has every right to do (sisters before misters always). Later, Tank goes back to the Kennish house and apologizes to Bay and tells her that he anonymously told the Inter-Fraternity Council about the “dog fight”. Though Bay is hesitant she decides to give Tank a chance.

Source: Tumblr

Even though I am still a die hard Bemmett fan I have to say I’m glad this Bank ship finally set sail. I think Tank is a really sweet guy and as Bay said herself, that’s what she needs right now.

Meanwhile, Daphne is dealing with her love-triangle. Though she is technically dating Jorge she clearly still has feelings for Campbell and everyone knows it, including Jorge. This becomes especially evident when Daphne decides to throw Campbell a surprise 21st birthday party and invites all his snow boarding buddies; even Campbell’s (hateful) ex-girlfriend comes.

Daphne’s feelings for Campbell become explicitly clear when Campbell wants to go snowboarding with his body that could lead him to have a irrevocable brain injury if he gets hurt. Campbell and Daphne have a fight (in front of Jorge) in which Daphne says, “I care about you!”. Campbell initially chooses to go but then quickly comes back realizing it’s probably not the best idea. Daphne is ecstatic which finally leads Jorge to ask if she has feelings for Campbell. Thankfully, Daphne is honest and says she has feelings for both of them and she needs to make a choice. Which led Jorge to leave, telling her to let him know when she came to a decision. Basically:

bye-b

Daphne better figure it out soon before she loses both guys. I, for one, am on team Jorge but that’s just my personal opinion.

Jill-shrugs

In parent world, this one was all about the Kennishs as both parents were keeping secrets. Kathryn was hiding the truth about what her novel was really about and John was neglecting to mention that Janice, Toby’s mother-in-law, kissed him. Talk about awkward.

justin-timerlake

Of course as it goes with all secrets, both of these secrets are revealed, leading to John being kicked out of the house and staying with Toby who’s not happy about it at all. Though we all know it was Janice that initiated the kiss I think we can all agree that John has been acting like a dick (more than usual) lately and hopefully this time away will teach him a lesson like his heart attack did with Regina. Only time will tell.

Next week’s episode looks like it’s going to be major. Bay might lose her ability to do art (at least with her right hand – possible story line?) which would be a huge bummer considering she wants to go Pratt and art is her life. Also the drama between the Kennish parents will continue and Regina might have to figure out what’s more important: her morals or her job. Also, Daphne seems to be in a pickle that could lead to someone’s death? Watch the preview below and comment your thoughts. (Side note: Why do these previews always have to be so overly dramatic? Or is it just me?)

My Favorite TV Couples of All Time

In honor of Valentine’s Day tomorrow I would like to take a look back at all my favorite TV couples. From the Huxtables to the Beasleys, here’s my top 10.

1. The Huxtables (The Cosby Show)

images

When I think about a couple that got the married with kids thing down I automatically think of the Huxtables. Cliff and Claire were partners and friends, loving and supporting each other in everything they did. I still love watching them parent together on The Cosby Show and can rewatch episodes ’til the end of time.

cliff-and-claire

2. The Scotts (One Tree Hill)

tumblr_n0ue6tS9Cz1r2gi28o1_500

I have always loved Nathan and Haley’s relationship. Yes, I do believe it is crazy to marry someone in high school but the idea that you could find your soul mate at this age is just awesome and made for a great love story. We got to watch this couple grow together as they both tried and did reach their dreams. We also saw them become great parents to two great kids and watched their love for each other grow and change into something deeper over time. The best.

tumblr_mtxj9lfClW1sd5847o5_250

3. The (Other) Scotts (One Tree Hill)

tumblr_n0pee9txgG1t5si32o5_250

These two drove me crazy over the years because everyone knew they belonged together except them. It was so frustrating! I loved them together from the first day Lucas helped Peyton when her car broke down. My favorite moment was at their wedding when Haley was the minister and she told the story of how when they were all younger, before Lucas even really knew Peyton, Lucas said he was going to marry “that girl”. And then he did. Yeah, it might not be realistic but it’s still cool to think about. I love it.

tumblr_myy8xd0c8a1rkybbto1_250

4. The Kyles (My Wife and Kids)

My-Wife-Kids

I always viewed this family as a modern version of the Huxtables. I loved Jay and Michael’s relationship because as much as Michael was a clown and did stupid stuff he was a great husband and father and she was a great wife and mom, acting just as crazy as him sometimes. I thought their dynamic was hilarious and they handled serious topics (like when Junior got his girlfriend pregnant) very well. I miss them!

tumblr_manrg1bgvk1qbg9q8o1_r1_400

5. The Matthews (Boy Meets World)

cory-topanga

Who didn’t love Cory and Topanga’s love story? From their middle school days everyone knew they were meant for each other, especially Shawn and Mr. Feeny. I loved watching them grow up together and fall in love. It was classic girl likes boy but boy doesn’t know he likes girl but then he figures it out and . . . sigh. It was amazing! I can’t wait to see them as a married couple with kids on Girl Meets World.

tumblr_n06q8k9oHf1qc4hfoo4_250

6. The Eriksens (How I Met Your Mother)

tumblr_lo97t8oykV1qi6hh7o1_400

Besides wanting to know who the mother was, these two were the main reason why I got into this show. I absolutely love them together. Meeting in college they’ve been through one or two hiccups along the road (the biggest being when Lily left for San Fran) but they’ve made it, working out their problems as a team. As the only married couple in their group it’s always great to see them act as a unit among their friends and being proud of their marriage. Plus, they made a very cute baby. They’re the best.

tumblr_n0vzhjrtdK1sr8ycso1_500

7. The Bings (Friends)

wedding

People always say you should fall in love with your best friend and these two make it seem like a solid idea. I didn’t get to watch the show and see how this friendship truly developed into a relationship when the show was on air so I knew what was going to happen when I finally did sit down to watch the whole series and even though it’s subtle they always made hints about a relationship between them. For example they both agreed that if they were both single when they were 30 they would get married. What I really love about Monica and Chandler is that neither of them truly expected that their best friend was “the one”. What started as a friends with benefits situation evolved into such much more, that surprised them both. Monica_and_Chandler_Bing

8. The Shepherds (Grey’s Anatomy)

Meredith-Derek-8x10-Suddenly-meredith-and-derek-28324021-1280-720

These too have a had a hard go of it. First, there’s the fact that Derek was still technically married when he started hooking up with Meredith. Then there was the whole “Choose me, love me” thing. Then the Meredith’s drowning, the bomb, the shooting, and Meredith messed up the Alzheimer’s experiment. Yeah, it’s been a bumpy ride. However, these two have survived it all becoming a strong couple with two kids who love each other despite all the crazy. Definitely one of my faves.

tumblr_n0qek5nzlw1tqz1x4o1_500

9. The Bishops (Nikita)

tumblr_mz8rhrKwci1r9gfpyo1_250

Speaking of having a rough go of things these two have definitely had it rough, but trying to take down an assassin organization can do that to a couple. These two have both faced down death multiple times giving each other heart attacks. Thankfully, they both survived all the way to the end of the series where they finally got married. What I love about these two is that they’re both strong and stubborn individuals who sometimes have very different views on things. However, rather than let these things tear them apart they work together as partners.

tumblr_mzxp3kgjuT1rgeiijo1_250

10. The Beasleys (The Office)

tumblr_n0lwq1KGaf1rbgu1so1_250

Ugh, these two. I can’t even. Just thinking about the finale makes me tear up. First, the fact that Jim waited so long for Pam is amazing. That’s just pure dedication and when he talked about that in his wedding vows? Amazing. Then they had two kids and had their house and then we got scared it was all going to end in the last season but of course they worked it all out. I just love these two so much. Adorable!

The Black and White PLL Episode Was Pointless

Although I’m sure we could all agree last night’s black and white episode of Pretty Little Liars was entertaining, it didn’t get us that far in the storyline. Though I understand the writers are going to try to stretch this storyline for as long as possible to keep the show going, this episode was truly a waste of time.

First, the whole premise of the black and white episode was that Spencer was having a dream where in the end all she learns is that she need to “look at the pages” of Ali’s journal rather than the book at the whole. It is then, when she wakes up, that she see’s that “A” changed some words in the journal. So in that whole hour long episode all we learned was there are changes in the journal that means the journal can lead them to Ali. But didn’t we kind of know that before?

really 2

Also, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer finally figure out that Aria is back with Ezra and it becomes clear they really need to tell her the truth. Basically, it was revealed to them what we already knew. Great job ladies!

clap 2

Also, there was a lot of progress made in the episode yet none of it matters because none of it was real. Let’s go down the list of what could have been resolved but wasn’t:

  1. Toby calls out Spencer on her drug problem. She hopefully gets help for said problem.
  2. The girls find Ali and finally get to call her out on her BS.
  3. Aria learns the truth about Ezra (and so does Toby).
  4. Emily asks Paige about her relationship with Shana (though this doesn’t lead to anything at least the question is out there).
  5. It is pretty much confirmed that Ezra and Mona are in fact working together and can’t be trusted.

Therefore, we basically saw a preview of what’s going to happen in the rest of this season.

Truthfully, I love PLL. I think it’s a good show filled with drama and romance and some mystery. However, the mystery part of it is getting a little ridiculous and it seems to me that last nights episode was only a ploy to stretch out this “Ezra is ‘A'” storyline until they figure out what to do next since they were renewed for a fifth season last year.

Honestly, I am ready for this mystery to end. How many different “A”‘s are we going to go through. What else can happen? I know they want the show to last as long as possible but this is starting to get a little ridiculous. I’m not sure how long I’ll keep watching.

How did you feel about the black and white episode last night? Vote below and click here for the promo for next week.

Switched at Birth 3X04 Recap

bemmett

This is episode was awesome, filled with twists I actually wasn’t expecting.

First, all the Bemmett feels!!! The promo last week of course had us all believing that Bemmett would be rekindling their love but sadly we were all hoodwinked. Instead, Emmett is now online dating this girl named, Mandy, which makes Bay very jealous. Like one of those crazy girls jealous. It also doesn’t helped that she got an email from Ty which just reminds her of the other guy that cheated on her (supposedly).

All these emotions eventually leads to Bay starting a fight with Emmett while they star gaze which leads her to kissing him. Emmett pushes her away (with some hesitation I think) making Bay angry because she doesn’t understand how he could’ve cheated on her but not on this Mandy chick. Clearly Bay hasn’t really forgiven Emmett which he points out. After breaking the camera Emmett needed to do his project the fight is over leaving all of us feeling like we were robbed.

That is until Bay apologizes to Emmett, giving him some photos for his project. She also states that she will never bring up the “Simone, cheating thing” ever again so that maybe one day . . . Well I guess we’ll just have to wait in see. Here’s to hoping there’ll be more Bemmett in our future.

Meanwhile Daphne is  dealing with her own love issues. She’s trying to keep her crush on Campbell in check because of the girlfriend she just found out about but that’s easier said than done. But then what better way to get over one guy than to move onto another? Enter Jorge, a nurse at the clinic, who invites Daphne to his sister’s engagement party.

All goes well until Jorge’s sister realizes that it was Daphne who blackmailed Senator Coto and eventually led to his resign. Jorge’s sister basically gives Daphne hell, claiming Coto was on his way to being the first Latino governor of Kansas. Jorge didn’t come to Daphne’s defense leading her to storm out and straight onto a basketball court with Campbell where he then tries to kiss her. So much for staying away.

Daphne, however, pulls away before kissing can ensue, reminding Campbell he’s already in a relationship. Campbell then states that he likes Daphne and wants to be with her and just has to “figure things out” whatever that even means. Daphne’s not having any of it however and storms out of there (she does a lot of storming out this episode).

Back at the hospital Jorge apologizes for leaving Daphne out to dry with his sister which Daphne accepts and leads to a quick make out session in the office. Now that Daphne’s figured out who her new boyfriend of the season all should be right in the world, right? Of course not. As soon as she’s done kissing Jorge, Campbell informs her that he’s now a free man and is single to mingle. Oh dear! Seems like Daphne has a choice to make. Who will she choose? I’m personally rooting for Jorge but who knows?

While the teens deal with their love drama the adults are having their own issues. John is upset that Katherine is doing her own thing and decides to do something solo as well: get a motorcycle. Not his best idea. The bike doesn’t last long as he wipes out and destroys it. This leads him to tell Katherine that he won’t be running for reelection (thank God!).

Regina and Angelo are having money issues as Angelo finally has to admit that they have less money than he originally led Regina to believe. Regina then asks her new partner, Wes, to chip in so she can buy K&D, her new shop. Regina has also convinced Wes to help her renovate an auditorium in East River Side which leads Wes to get the even bigger idea of renovating the whole area which would lead to the buy out of many of the storefronts Regina grew up with. Oops. Seems like Regina has found herself in a pickle. I wonder how this one will work out. Will she choose to keep her hometown the way it is or the money? Only time will tell.

Here’s the promo for next week. Looks like there’ll be even more drama and maybe something happens to Bay? We shall see.

Switched at Birth is Back!

It’s finally that time of year again: the return of my favorite shows. I don’t know about you guys but I for one couldn’t be more excited. Nothing too crazy happened in the premiere of Switched at Birth but I feel like they have set a good foundation for the season. If you haven’t watched yet here’s your spoilers warning: SPOILERS!

First, my favorite couple, Bemmett, is sadly still not back together but they are friendly so that gives me a little hope. However, it seems like Bay my have a new love interest this season (because Lord knows these girls are never single for too long). His name is Tank and he’s a dedicated frat boy taking an art class. Many of you might recognize Tank (played by Max Adler) from Glee (you know back when it was still good). Anyway, I like Tank but I’m hoping he and Bay just stay friends rather than become “Bank”. However, Bay is still rebounding from her last “cheating” boyfriend so who knows what’ll happen.

Meanwhile Daphne is currently dealing with her 100 hours worth of probation. Working in a free clinic, Daphne meets a (HOT) nurse practitioner (I’m thinking maybe another Chef Jeff situation in the works?) and a cool guy in a wheel chair who has a great sense of humor.

that sounds like the start

I like him but I also think Daphne needs to be single for a while. She’s been jumping from guy to guy for a little too long now. She needs a break. Plus she needs to focus on how she’s going to get back in John’s good graces, although really John needs to just let it go. Yeah she messed up but she’s a teenager. They make mistakes.

Everyone else is also dealing with their own issues. Toby is missing his new wife, Nikki, Regina wants to start her own business with money she thinks Angelo has but he may have to put all that money into his own business. Katherine’s feeling down and is going on medication and has now starting lying to John (not good) but hey sometimes you need a break. John is getting crap at his job because people think he made Daphne blackmail the senator and basically everyone’s kind of on the struggle bus right now.

Even so, Daphne, Toby, and Bay will be starting a field hockey team at Carlton and Katherine’s now taking dance lessons and trying new things, so maybe they’ll be okay. I’m excited for this new season and can’t wait to see what happens next.

Here’s the preview for the next episode.

Winter Is Coming

After what has felt like forever HBO finally released the trailer for the fourth season of Game of Thrones and I can’t even contain my excitement. If you haven’t seen it already (seriously what have you been doing if you haven’t) you can find it below.

I haven’t read the books so truthfully I don’t even really know what half of the trailer showed means. I just know it looks good and intense with more battles, drama, love (or lust more likely), and a building plot that will most likely take many unexpected turns.

First, my girl Daenerys is ready to take what is hers: the throne. She clearly isn’t going to let anyone stand in her way and with the help of her dragons and army she seems to have the power to do so.

Now to my favorite family, the Starks. We don’t really get a lot of information about what’s going on with this quickly dwindling family in the preview. What we do know is the Wildlings are coming and Jon Snow is going to be at the forefront of that battle, most likely fighting his former love, Ygritte. Talk about awkward. Arya is still wielding her sword somewhere and I didn’t see Sansa anywhere in the trailer but seeing as her husband was in a cell that can’t mean good things for her.

As for that other family, the Lannisters seem to be dealing with some strive within their own ranks. Cersei, as crazy and evil as she is, loves her kids and will go to extraordinary lengths to protect them, even if it’s against her own family members. I’m not sure what exactly the Lannisters will be arguing about this season but as always it’s looks as if Joffrey will put his foot in his mouth, saying something absolutely outrageous and they seem to have a new enemy that’s out for blood.

There were a lot of characters missing in the trailer that I wished to see, like Tyrion’s love, Shae, who left at the end of last season, maybe? I’m not too sure. I do know she wasn’t too into the idea of hooking up with Tyrion in secret while he was married to Sansa. Also, like I said, Sansa wasn’t in it and I didn’t see Hodor either. This doesn’t mean anything of course. I’m sure all three of these characters will be in season 4 as will a whole bunch more including some new characters.

The real question will be who will come out of this season alive. Sadly we won’t know anything until April.
