POLL: Do you have to finish every book?

There are two kinds of book lovers in the world: those who have to finish a book they start and those who refuse to read books they don’t like. Where do you stand? If you start a book do you have to finish it or are you willing to stop reading a book if you don’t like it? I used to be Team “I Won’t Stop Reading ‘Til This Book Is Done” but then I read a book I hated and stopped probably a third of the way through.

Cast your vote in the poll below and sound off in the comments why you have to finish every book you read or why you don’t.

Results of last week’s poll:

Twilight or Fifty Shades?

In a surprising twist (honestly I was expecting neither to be the winner) Twilight came out on top with 60% of the votes. I guess after all these years the Twihards still show out when it counts.

  1. Oh, I definitely used to be a “finish every book” kind of person. But then one day I was just like “Why? If I’m not enjoying something, then I should put it down and read something that I will enjoy”. With that being said, I do think I read a lot of books past when I should. I’m just always hopeful that the book is going to get better and redeem itself.

    1. Same! I used to feel like I had to finish every book I started because I would think, “Well it’ll get better.” But then finally I realized I didn’t actually have to finish every book. Unless I bought it then I felt I should since I spent money on it.

  2. I used to stop books when I didn’t like them but it was happening a lot so I am trying to finish them now. much harder than I thought it would be. I have not yet managed to finish one I would have previoiusly left.

      1. I tell myself I am going to go back to it and finish it later, but it doesn’t often happen. I am trying to stop that and go back and finish all the unfinished books.
